What the official shared rule covers
| Purchase or state | Evidence and boundary |
|---|---|
| Host's Upgrade Matrix | All players use it |
| Matrix purchase by any member | Upgrades the whole crew |
| Older-save upgrade migration | Developer carries forward the highest level previously purchased |
| A new handheld tool | Guides describe personal equipment; not covered by the Matrix sharing statement |
| A vehicle or Garage-specific upgrade | Check that ownership category separately; no universal copying rule here |
Use the station and purchase name to identify the category. “Upgrade” in a menu label is not enough to establish that the transaction uses the shared Matrix.
Coordinate a shared purchase
- Confirm everyone joined the intended host and saved world.
- Identify the exact Matrix perk and current level.
- Agree on the purchase before a teammate buys the same planned improvement.
- Compare the Matrix level after the transaction.
- Check tools and vehicles separately if a player expects new equipment.
For an existing save, note the migrated level rather than assuming each player needs to repurchase every previous perk. The official highest-level migration rule concerns prior upgrade state; it is not a promise to combine everyone's wallets. S02
Handheld perks and vehicles solve different limits
The upgrade guide distinguishes handheld width and container perks in the Upgrade Matrix from vehicle improvements at the Garage. A wider handheld head is not evidence that a vehicle's cleaning width changes, and more handheld capacity does not establish a larger vehicle hopper. S12
When one teammate cleans and another watches the delivery route, compare the equipment each actually uses. A shared perk can still leave a blocked outlet or a disconnected belt unchanged.
Do upgrades follow me into every world?
The documented rule says the crew uses the host's Matrix. It does not establish permanent account-wide ownership of that world's upgrades. Before switching hosts or slots, check the Matrix in the newly selected world.
If teammates see different ground state, compare versions and the 1.0.4 ground-synchronization changes before blaming an upgrade purchase. S03
