Choose the host before the campaign
Use the player who can keep the intended world available for future sessions. Confirm the save slot and previous progress before inviting the crew. The host's Upgrade Matrix is shared under the official 1.0.3 rule, so switching worlds can also change the upgrades the crew uses. S02
For a valuable world, preserve a local backup copy before a public session. This guide does not establish a tested host-transfer process.
Start and join the intended room
- Have every player finish updating to the same installed version.
- The host selects Start game, the intended slot and visibility, then starts play.
- Invite through Steam or the reported Esc → Your Crew → Invite friends menu.
- Teammates join the invitation or use Join game to find the intended crew.
- Confirm the world and local progress before splitting up.
The menu route comes from guide material with screenshots, not our own co-op session. Follow current labels if a patch changes them.
Which settings should I check when joining fails?
| Check | Why it comes first |
|---|---|
| Installed version on every client | Official co-op notes require matching versions |
| Host is in the intended world | An invitation cannot establish that you selected the right save |
| Selected visibility | Determines how the intended crew should find or enter the session |
| Existing invitations and host crew list | Helps confirm whether the join reached the host |
Record any exact join error after those checks. No game-specific router port or port-forwarding procedure has been verified by this guide.
Public rooms and Your Crew controls
Patch 1.0.5 adds confirmation when starting or switching a crew to Public, explaining what other players can do. It is not a documented read-only visitor setting. S04
Patch 1.0.3 puts kick and ban controls under Your Crew. A ban prevents that player from rejoining the save until unbanned. Moderation does not promise to recover removed structures. Use a restricted visibility suited to the intended group when preserving a persistent base.
For the full multiplayer guide, return to co-op. For purchase coordination, read shared co-op upgrades. For the next patch versus the roadmap, use update 1.1 plans.
